Social Media Policy for Staff

General Guidelines: Staff members are expected to uphold the professional image of Happy Hearts Daycare and use social media responsibly. Professionalism must be maintained in all communications, whether in-person, written, or online. Staff are reminded that online content can be shared widely and must align with the daycare’s values.

Key Policies:

  • Staff must respect the privacy of the children, families, and colleagues. Posting confidential or identifying information on social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, ) is strictly prohibited.
  • Any content that implicates the center or contradicts its values may result in disciplinary action.
  • Only authorized personnel may post promotional materials through official daycare Personal posts related to the daycare require prior written approval from the Director.

Cellphone Usage: Personal cellphone uses during work hours and while supervising children is prohibited, except in emergencies. Unauthorized use, including texting, personal calls, and social media browsing, will result in disciplinary action.

Social Media Policy for Children

Use of Television & Movies: Staff will ensure that all videos and computer programs are developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, and free of violent or explicit content.

Guidelines:

  • Alternative activities will always be available when the TV is in use
  • TV use is limited to one hour every Friday, as part of a balanced activity plan
  • Screen time is not permitted for children under 2 years of age
  • Programs should encourage active participation, such as singing, dancing, and discussion
  • Staff will engage with children during screen time to enhance the learning experience.

Use of Computers & Tablets:

  • Alternatively, activities will be provided while computers or tablets are in use;
  • Screen time is limited to 20 minutes per day, promoting a balanced routine
  • Programs should foster creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Staff will actively guide children in using educational software and creative tools.

Electronics from Home: Children are discouraged from bringing personal electronic devices to the daycare. Happy Hearts Daycare is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items brought from home. Parents assume full responsibility for any personal electronics their child brings to the daycare.
